In an ongoing partnership with Washington State University (WSU), Cooperages 1912 recently donated 18 oak wine barrels to the Viticulture and Enology (V&E) Department.

FRANKFORT, KY.— The Kentucky Distillers’ Association, alongside universities and colleges throughout the state, is proud to launch the Kentucky Coalition for Responsible Alcohol and Substance Misuse Education (RASME) to reduce underage drinking and impaired driving among college students.

Stefanie Fernandez usually spends her work week in the finance office of Independent Stave, a company that manufactures oak barrels for bourbon and other spirits, headquartered in Lebanon, Missouri. But once every week or two since in December, Fernandez has trailed her son into his middle school when she drops him off for classes. She checks in at the office, collects a binder of “sub notes,” and reports to a classroom.

In a continued effort to aid the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease, Independent Stave Company and The Boswell Family recently donated a total of $200,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association. The donation will be divided between the clinical trial “DIAN-TU Tau Next Generation” and local Alzheimer’s Association Chapters in Missouri and Kentucky.

For the past two years, Morehead Wood Products has been funding grants for classroom teachers through its program called ISCO Cares, a charitable giving program established by Independent Stave Company.

Morehead Wood Products presented a check to the Peoples Clinic for $1,500 on Sept. 13, 2018, at the stave mill.

In late September Missouri Cooperage recently utilized their ISCO Cares funds to donate $1,000 to Ezard Elementary School in Conway.

The Benton Wood Products team and ISCO Cares donated $10,000 to the Marshall County Exceptional Center.

Kentucky Cooperage recently donated $2,500 to Honor Flight Network for veterans in American Legion Post #49. Sixteen of the legion members qualify for an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials established for them in 2004.

Sister companies Cooperages 1912 and Oak Solutions Group are pleased to announce their donation to The Tipping Point and the Redwood Credit Union for wildfire relief efforts in northern California wine country. The companies are making a joint donation of $100,000, which includes employee donations and a company match.

Morehead Wood Products donated new classroom supplies and technology equipment to over 25 classrooms in Bath, Rowan, Fleming and Carter counties. Donations totaled $20,000.

Independent Stave Company is pleased to announce its ongoing support to establish a sustainable training program for teachers in the Lebanon Public Schools to improve learning conditions for students with dyslexia. The family-owned business made an initial donation of $30,000 in 2016, and is now making a subsequent donation of $30,000 for 2017 to continue the effort.
